U10 GIRLS TRAVEL

AGE REQUIREMENTS
8 and 9 years old

PHILOSOPHY
Under 10 Travel Teams are formed in addition to the Recreational (rec) division. The goal for U10 girls travel soccer program is to create an opportunity for girls who are interested in taking a step beyond recreational soccer. Travel soccer requires an additional commitment in both time and spirit, but the Coaches will create an atmosphere that will encourage players to continue to pursue their interest in soccer and most importantly continue to have fun!

SELECTING TRAVEL TEAMS
The coaches will evaluate players based on their: 1) technical skills (e.g., ball control, dribbling, passing, shooting); 2) athleticism; and 3) attitude and effort. During the tryouts, coaches will conduct soccer skills drills with the players, and run small sided games. Once the travel teams have been formed, coaches will organize and plan practices and scrimmages during the summer months, to prepare for the fall season and tournament competition. Coaches will also provide skills development training lessons that the girls can work on independently at home or on vacation during the summer.

EXPECTATIONS OF TRAVEL PLAY

SUMMER PRACTICES & CONDITIONING
Scheduled through the summer and participation is expected when available.

FALL PRACTICES AND GAMES
One travel practice per week + participation with a recreational team which will also practice one time per week.
Rec Games will be played on Saturday mornings- travel games will be scheduled on Sunday afternoons.
Travel Games are played on Saturday or Sunday afternoons, depending on the age group.
